The Business

History:

The security on ships is constantly improving. Different forms of bilge-pumps are being installed today.  Normally such pumps can  not handle  large quantitis of water that flush into the ship in case of  emergency.

Supply:

Ericson Safety Pump (ESP) , "The Air Bag of Boating" have developed a safety pump based on a patent. The Ericsson Safety Pump is permanently installed and attached directly to the propeller shaft. The ESP has no moving parts, it is frictionless and free from maintenance. There are no seals, gaskets, filters and it requires no lubrication.

Influencing factors:

Several international organisations and insurance companies are interested in the Ericson Safety Pump. The Swedish Fishing Administration has certified the ESP pump as "life saving equipment". Professional fishermen will therefore be granted 40% EU-financing if they install the pump.

Trends:

Security systems are given top priority.

The Company

Introduction:

The company was founded in 1996. The products are based on several patents, design patent and trade markets. The inventor, Wally Ericson, Florida USA, has given ESP International all rights to the patents. The production is initially done in Sweden by ESP.   Marketing and sales are done by  international network of agents.

Owner:

ESP International AB is  owned by Bo Andersson, Kjell A Mattsson, Bengt Törnqvist, Gunnar Törnqvist, Jan Sjöström, Neville Silverman. Each owner has its equell share.

Products:

The company has developed three pumps with different capacity. The pumps are based on the same concept and are easy to install on existing vessels. They are also easy to produce.

Subcontractors:

ESP have two established foundries in Sweden that deliver the casting and are cooperating with two mechanical companies for cutting and boring.

Production:

The production, apart from founding and mechanical working also include balancing. The balancing of the impels are done by ESP.Products are delivered to the agents that install the ESP pumps in the vessels.

Quality:

ESP have a quality program and are only using ISO 9002 certified foundries.All pumps are individually balanced by ESP.

Financing:

ESP are a private company and financing is provided by own capital and loan from ALMI ( Government Agency for support to new companies)
