Lajv/lrp?

What is Lajv/lrp?
Live is a more developed phase of the standard pen&paper RPG(aD&D like). Where you enter a character and play him/her out except that lajv isnt on pen&paper it's for real. There are various kinds of lajvs/lrps(fantasy,sci-fi,SCA,vampire etc.) but I will only write about Fantasy. Ofcourse the weapons aint for real. They're made out of latex so nobody will get hurt.

So why play lajv/lrp?
Why play standard RPGs? why play games at all? I havn't been on a lajv/lrp yet but I think that what you experience there is far better than playing a computer game. A computer game is so interactive and distant to other players. In lajv/lrp you in the middle of the story or fight or whatever. You are no longer that safe distance from you screen. You are there! You have full control!

How do I begin?
First,
you should read alot and check up some more about lajv/lrp. Then you should join a local group/guild/clan/whatever and learn from them.
Second,
you should get some proper gear. The first time you goto a lajv/lrp you're prolly going to a newbie lajv/lrp then the outfit doesnt matter that much.
Third,
Use you imagination and create an instresting character. Write down one or two sheets of paper with background/characteristics and such.
Fourth,
Get you ass to a lajv/lrp! ;)
