Von - Satanic Blood - (Hellspawn Records)
Never have i been so amazed by such simplicity. This is
one of the finest if not THE best BM releases of all time. What can i
say that hasn't been said before? just look at what the rest of the
scene were doing when this was recorded (87). Celtic Frost were
starting to turn to shit, Darkthrone were releasing bad death metal
demos as were Mayhem. The fact this was released in 1987 is fuckin
amazing. The fact of the matter is that even today this puts
most BM releases to shame. Now on to the music, All 8 tracks pretty
much have the same riff and drum beat with the sickest vocals I've
ever heard. No vocalist will EVER come close to being as good as
this, there's no way to describe them you will have to hear for
yourself. Some people would complain about the overall repetitiveness
of the whole thing but I say Fuck 'em. Quality over quantity is what
this demo represents and every song is outstanding. If I had to say
which songs are best though I'd say Watain and the title track
but they were the first two I heard, really there no standouts and
it's best to listen to the album as a whole and it's not at all hard
to do. With this demo now released on cd by Hellspawn there's simply
no reason not to get it and for those people that wish to criticize
it get your fucking hearing checked.

Oops... I was wrong about the date. The demo came out
in '92. Yeah that kinda invalidates my review but it's
still a fucking great demo and it still gets a 10.
