Since unemployment is the largest common problem in the European Union it came natural to focus on unemployed women to examine how unemployment affects them medically and socially and how different forms of support can help them back to employment. In what way will their quality of life be affected ? What more could be done to help them create a new career and , if a new career isn’t possible, what could be done to raise their quality of life and assist them in finding a function of their own in society and strengthen their feeling of social commitment.
Further more the project can prepare and educate the participants for the future job market by making them understand the need of goal focusing, alternative planning and collecting new knowledge and experience.
This project uses modern information- and communication technology and launches a committed and innovative co-operation between local authorities, employers and trade unions to increase employment by financial co-ordination, mentorship and committing influential leaders, thereby making use of human and financial resources.
In this way we can contribute to equality between sexes and make information and IT-knowledge available to women with little chances to get it elsewhere.
The understanding of the words equality, employment, self support, women’s rights in labour market and future prospects differ between Jönköping and our partners in Chemnitz and Wien. In these areas we have much to teach and learn from each other to achieve increased equality for middle-aged women.
