Hello and welcome to my homepage. I would like to show you something that I enjoy, and that is decorative painting.
Decorative painting is used to simulate wood, marble and other materials. When decorative painting was most appreciated, during the 19th century, it was considered "better" than real wood and stone.
Today many kinds of hardwood are threatened by extinction, and it is no longer possible to come by large enough pieces of wood. If you want to get a cupboard that matches the antique bookshelf, decorative painting can therefore be the only way, unless you want to veneer with fine wood from national parks.
The most beautiful patterns are found in the wood from really large trees that have grown for several hundred years. Trees in plantations are usually harvested in less than one hundred years. With decorative painting the beautiful old patterns can be created in a few hours.
Yes! It really is completely flat. And it is not made from wood either.
I painted this flat and previously white door in a shop that wanted a nice door that matched the rest of the furniture. Loudspeakers made from chipboard, painted to look like oak wood.

These loudspeakers I painted for a friend of a friend. The loudspeakers are made from chipboard. (Sawdust glued together, similar to MDF.) He wanted the loudspeakers to look like the bookshelf they are standing next to. How do you think I managed?

Follow the links to the left (Wood, Stone etc.) to see examples of what can be done with decorative painting. You will be surprised.

All subsequent pages are in Swedish. A short description of each link is given in this page. That should give sufficient information to appreciate this site. Each large photo exists in three copies of different sizes. Most thumbnails lead to a photo of the smallest resolution. To get a higher resolution click "högre upplösning" or "mellan", to get maximum resolution click "hög upplösning" or "Ännu högre upplösning". The smallest pictures are reached by the thumbnails, "liten bild" or "mindre bild".
