USERS MANUAL - BONOTRON AM-3.20A/99A ACCORDION MIDI CONNECTIONS Connect one MIDI-cord from the output connector of the accordion to the input on the power supply (mains adapter) marked "INPUT FROM ACCORDION". Connect the other MIDI-cord from the power supply (output marked "MIDI OUT") to MIDI IN on your MIDI-instrument. Connect the mains adapter to the main outlet. Turn on your MIDI-instrument. The MIDI-converter AM-3 is now ready for use. POWER SUPPLY AM-3 is supplied with 6V DC from the enclosed power supply 230VAC / 6VDC. Current consumption is approx. 200 mA. PHYSICAL DATA Length: 180 mm Width: 45 mm Height: 15mm Weight approx. 300 grams including installation material and contact assembly. ________________________________________________________________________ SUMMARY CONTROL PANEL On the control panel there are two rows of push buttons, one row of six buttons marked A to F (function selection buttons) and one row of ten buttons marked 0 to 9 (function value selection buttons). It is one LED beside each button. BUTTONS The buttons A to D are used for part selection. A=TREBLE or right hand side. B=SOLO, C=CHORDS and D=BASSES. The buttons E and F are used for function selection: E=MIDI-channels and "octave start" for CHORDS and BASSES, F=is for TRANSPOSING. The buttons 0 to 9 are used for assigning values to the different functions: MIDI-channel, transpose and SOUND PROGRAM numbers. NOTE! The selection of value must always be done by pressing two buttons, i.e. the MIDI-channel 3 is selected by pressing the button 0 and 3. LEDS The LEDs show wich part, function and values that are selected. The flashing led shows wich unit number is used and the steady lit led indicates which number of tens is used. INSTRUMENT FUNCTIONS The four different parts: TREBLE (A), SOLO (B), CHORDS (C) and BASSES (D) are transmitting MIDI-data on separate MIDI-channels and are independent from each other. SOUND PROGRAMS The selection of sound programs for the connected instrument is independent for each channel. On the model AM-3.99A, 99 different sound programs can be used, and 20 different on the model AM-3.20A, for each of the four parts. MIDI-CHANNEL The MIDI-channel can be selected from 00 to 16 on each of the four instrument function parts. If the MIDI-channel 00 is selected, then the actual instrument part is turned off. TRANSPOSE Transposing can be done between 00 and 99, where the value decides which note that is dedicated to C in in the deepest octave in AM-3 treble side and C in cords and basses. MEMORY AM-3 is equipped with a built-in memory that stores all the programmed function values automatically. RESET Press the A and the 0 buttons simultaneosly and the AM-3 returns to the factory settings below. ------------------------------------------------------------ FUNCTION BUTTON (E) MIDI-channel (F) TRANSPOSING ------------------------------------------------------------ (A) TREBLE 01 48 (B) SOLO 00 (off) 48 (C) CHORDS 02 60 (D) BASSES 03 36 ------------------------------------------------------------ The deepest note in chords and basses is C in the factory settings. The letters inside parenthesis is the actual function button. The numbers is the function value. NOTE! Normaly no function values have to be changed from the factory settings, as they correspond to the GS-standard. BASS OCTAVE SHIFT (Mod. AM-3-B) The bass octave can be shifted one step up and down during the playing, with a foot control pedal (Additional accessories). ____________________________________________________________ PROGRAMMERING SOLO CHANNEL Normaly the solo channel is turned off (MIDI-channel 00). To activate it, press button B (SOLO), then button E (MIDI-channel), thereafter select a MIDI-channel from 01 to 16 (04 is recomended). SOUND PROGRAMS First select instrument part (treble, solo, chords or basses) by pushing buttons A, B, C or D. The corresponding LED is lit. AM-3.99 (99 sound programs) Select a sound program with the numeric buttons from 01 to 99. The program number is indicated on the LEDs beside the numeric buttons. AM-3.20 (20 sound programs) The selection of sound programmes is done by pushing just one button. When the button for the instrument part is pressed once, the 17:th LED is lit. This means that the sound programs from 01 to 10 can be selected. By pushing The instrument part button once more, the sound programs from 11 to 20 can be selected. (In the first case button 0 correspond to sound program 01, button 1 to prog. 02 and so on. In the second case, button 0 correspond to prog 11, button 2 to prog. 12 and so on) MIDI CHANNEL (button E) First compare your instrument's MIDI-setup with the factory settings table. If they don't correspond, change the settings as follows: - select part by pushing A (TREBLE), B (SOLO), C (CHORDS) or D (BASSES). - select MIDI-channel by pushing the E button, LEDs indicates the current MIDI-channel. - select new MIDI-channel with the numeric buttons. Accepted values are 01 to 16. 00 is used to turn off one ore more of the parts. - push the part selection button once more. BASSES / CHORDS - OCTAVE START (button E) The note, which shall begin the basses or the chords octave can be selected (the selected note will be the deepest in the octave). First select the actual instrument part (C for chords or D for basses), then push the E button, the selected MIDI-cannel is shown. Normaly C is the deepest note. Select the new value for the deepest note according to the table below. Example: You want E to be the deepest note, select 24 on the numeric buttons. The LEDs shows 04 for a "four note" offset from the normal value. The MIDI- channel is not affected as long as numbers from 00 to 16 is not used. If the settings not are acceptable, change the settings as follows: - select instrument function (treble, solo chords or basses) by pushing the corresponding button. - select transpose by pushing the F button. LEDs indicates the current transpose. - select a new transpose by pushing the numeric buttons (vallid values 00 to 99) 00 is the deepest note. 12 is one octave up, 24 is two octaves up and so on. To get back, push A to D. If you want to play in another key without changing the finger sets, make the corresponding transposing on the AM-3. Table showing the factory settings, see page 2.
