Background

Prof. Dr. Kumarihamy Panabokke was born at Sri Pada, Sri Lanka's holy mountain, worshipped by people from many different faiths. She grew up in Sri Lanka at the family estate near the beautiful hill capital Kandy. From early age she had the opportunity to travel to and visit other countries and for periods she also lived abroad together with her family.

Very early she had a strong wish to help people suffering from physical ailments and soon decided that she wanted to study medicine. Living in a country where the 'Alternative' medical systems had a strong position made it natural for her to look into this direction for information and guidance. Acupuncture and Ayurveda were the first disciplines to attract her. Alongside with these studies she also studied gynaecology and took her exam as a gynaecologist in 1971. Thereafter followed a long period of studies and achieving clinical experiences in various medicine disciplines in Sri Lanka, India, China, Hongkong, Sovjet Union, USA , England, Germany, and Holland.

She came to Sweden in 1977 and 1980 she started an alternative medicine practise in the capital city Stockholm. She has been living permanently in Sweden since 1977, except for longer and shorter periods of studies in other countries.

Since 1992 she has been living in the district of Skåne in southern Sweden and is today running the acupuncture clinic 'Sri Lak Kliniken' in Åstorp, about 20 km northeast of the coastal town Helsingborg.
