Saltfleetby - Easter

Here are some of the pictures I took at Easter 1999 - I've just quickly put some of the better ones into this page. It's just to give you a quick idea of what you can do with the Internet.

What I think would be rather fun would be to put some of Sheila's essays from her writing group onto the net together with any old photos we could find and scan in.

Easter Bunnies

2 April 1999 was the "Easter Bunny" competition in Wragby and the old guy that you see in the wheelchair was Ysanne's entry (and her colleague Yvonne). Much to everybody's delight Ysanne won first prize in the competition. Later that day she was interviewed on Radio Lincolnshire.

Threshing time

On 3 April 1999 was the annual threshing exhibition held at XXX farm we don't know the name, let me know and I'll put it it correctly - we went along to take a look at the old farm machinery and see how they used to thresh in the "old days" - not so long ago actually, but from the time before the monster combine harvesters had been invented.

The day before we had been regailed with stories of "rats running out of the stacks when they did the threshing" but we saw no rats - just a lot of dust. It must have been hard dusty work.

Here are some models that were on display. It turned out that they had been made by Roger Chapman - Claire was greatly impressed.
