Thee Album-1992 Dare Iz a Darkside-1994 Muddy Waters-1996 Doc's Da Name 2000-1998 Raised in the unforgiving bricks of Jersey City, N.J., Redman's introduction to hip-hop came early in life, at age 10 when his mother bought him a set of turntables and his uncle, who had been a club DJ, gave him some pointers. Later, however, relations between Redman and his mother soured and she kicked him out of her house, correctly suspecting him of selling drugs. Redman went to live with a friend he had made several months prior at a hip-hop club: Erick Sermon of EPMD. During the two years he lived with Sermon in the late '80s, Redman became Sermon's apprentice, learning hip-hop business and eventually guesting on EPMD's "Hardcore" and "Headbanger." The Funk Doctor would display his fundamentally graphic, weed induced heavy-mental lyrics. Those cameos earned Redman the attention of Def Jam Records, who signed him in 1992. His debut album, Whut? Thee Album, was released later that year. Supported by a strong underground buzz generated by its first single, "Blow Your Mind," and its bedrock funk laid by Sermon, the album went gold. Redman was named the 1993's Top Rap Artist by The Source magazine. The 1994 follow-up Dare Iz a Darkside went gold as did his next album Muddy Waters, which featured Red once again trading words with his Dr. Trevis alter-ego and paired up with his Def Jam counterpart, Method Man. Red's late '98 release, Doc's Da Name 2000, was released with the fanfare befitting the now-foundation artist whose funk is stronger than the most powerful sensimilla. N.W.A(Niggaz.With.Attitude): Members: Eric Wright-aka/EAZY E Rest In Peace. O`shea Jackson-aka/ICE CUBE Lorenzo Patterson-aka/MC REN Andre Young-aka/DR DRE Antoine Carraby-aka/DJ YELLA Album Realeses: NWA With Posse Staight Outta Compton 100 Miles n`Running Niggaz4Life NWA GREASTEST HITS When the dope dealer Eazy meet one of his friends Ren,they were going to do something the world was not ready for G`RAP,or Gangsta RAP.Eazy had some money so he created an own label called RUTHLESS RECORDS. They also knew that they needed some more members so from another group(CIA)they "took"Ice Cube. and Dre came from a dj group called Concreat Roots, where also Yella played.Toghter they created the group..THE WORLD MOST DANGEROUS GROUP N.W.A. The first album was with other artist and did not get the"lift"they needed, but there second..Straight Outta Compton, which included hits like F--K THE POLICE,DOPEMAN and STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON, the puted Compton on the map.Compton is a suburb outside Los Angeles where crimes, driveby`s and gang realeted homicide,is something they where "lunch"4 the boyz. Album number three 100 miles n`running was something they often were got into, cops chasing them,no matter what they had done,if they had cone anything at all..as you already guesed they(NWA) did not like the cops, and one of the text F--K tha Police..you might know what that is about!!OR? Album number four Niggaz4Life one of the members(Ice Cube)which was the one that were doing most of the raping had left the group for a solo album, here did the fans thought that the NWA was down, but NO. Eazy that had mostly done the music and kept himself in the"background"took over, doing the track,Boys in tha hood and the fans got new hope(no one had ever done lyrics from the street, real "sh-t),but after this something happend. Rodney King got beat up by the Police, and a riot in LA were a fact... here is when the group fell apart,Eazy said that not all the Polices where beating King, and some were"innocent" DrDre did not agree, quote:if you play a song like F--K the Police it`s dont matter if or you dont do anything, all are the same, and this were the resulte that the Most Dangrous Group fell apart.. a few albums went by were Eazy V:S Dre were throwing words at each other, but in..1994.... the chocking news(no one)had gone out with. But EAZY-E had full blown A.I.D.S and only a few days,or months left.. it took only a few days..Sunday the 26 he past away.R I P!! Wu Tang Clan. Members: RZA GZA U-God Raekwon Masta Killa Inspecta Deck Ol`Dirty Bastard GhostFace Killa Method Man Albums: Enter The Wu Tang 36 Chambers-1993 Wu Tang Forever-1997 The WU-2000 This group is one of the best hip hop groups now,and many of them have there own solo records.. And with so many individuals you might suspect that they would just do one record and them split but this group is might even better in the Wu,then as a solo artist`s.Some of them had have great solo releases, for example,Method Man,RZA and Ol`Dirty Bastard, but it`s in the Clan they"belong".. Early 1993 with their debut album 'Enter The Wu-Tang: 36 Chambers', originally an underground record, the album became famous with it's single 'Protect Ya Neck/Method Man', this joint had something for both the underground and the commercial side of Hip-Hop, 'Protect Ya Neck' was a lyrical onslaught which shook up the underground (also my favourite track), but the B-Side 'Method Man' really broke the Clan into the commercial scene. It was to be nearly 4 years before the Wu-Tang Clan released their second album, but to fill the void, a number of the Clan's members released their own solo records. Following the success of the first Clan LP , Method Man released his own solo joint, 'Tical' was a gem to some but a dissapointment to others, including Meth himself who felt the album was 'rushed', despite that, the album made Method Man the most popular Clan member and created another hit single, a duet 'Love Song' featuring Mary J Blidge, 'All I Need/I'll Be There For You' was a smash on the pop charts, world-wide. Ol' Dirty Bastard was the second Wu-Tang member to release his own solo project, entitled 'Return To The 36 Chambers: The Dirty Version', this album received similar criticism to 'Tical', some believed it was wack, where as others loved Dirty's 'Crazy' style and old school flavour. The next two solo albums were undisputed classics, Raekwon came first with 'Only Built 4 Cuban Linx', an album dedicated to the gambino lifestyle of New York gangstas, his album started a 'Craze' in the Hip-Hop community, a number of rappers adopted his mafioso style, the album was a complex, multi-layered masterpiece. The next album 'Liquid Swords' from The Genius/GZA, brought the Clan back to their Shaolin roots, another very deep album delving into the real background of the Wu-Tang, explaining their hatred for A&R Executives and their beliefs, it also heralded some of the most exciting Wu-Tang videos. After nearly a year of Wu-Cameos and guest appearances, Ghostface Killah finally released his much anticipated solo album 'Ironman' in late 1996, which was not as good as the last 2 albums but was still impressive (as wu-tang always is) and it was the second most successful Wu-Tang album, second only to the second Wu-Tang Clan album which was released June 3rd 1997, it was confirmed as the most anticipated Hip-Hop album of all time, and it debuted at #1 is a number of different countries World-Wide including The United Kingdom & United States without hardly any promotion. It was also the first Enhanced Double CD in music history. 'Wu-Tang Forever' reunited the Clan's members and is possibly the best Hip-Hop group album since their first album was released in 1993. If you want to purchase any of these albums, check out The Wu-Tang Store. The Wu-Tang Clan have also made many other cameo appearances on Albums, Remixes and B-Sides, they also have other 'Wu-Tang Family' groups connected to the Wu-Tang including The Killarmy & Sunz Of Man, but that's another story.... Method Man have done some work with Red Man, L.L Cool.J....and also appered in the movie 187,with Samuel L Jackson, and did the mainsong for the movie SpaceJam with L.L Cool.J,Busta Rhymes,Coolio and B-Real. Ol`Dirty has appered in music with Pras(Ghetto Superstar)and also with Blackstreet(The Fix).. There is going to soon be info on the Prodigy.. Naughty By Nature: Members- Anthony Criss AKA:Treach Kier Gist AKA:Kaygee Vincent Brown AKA:Vinnie Albums:Naughty By Nature-1991¤TommyBoyRecords Rating:9*By PHX 19Naughty3-1993¤TommyBoyRecords Rating:9*By PHX Poverty`s Paradise-1995¤TommyBoyRecords Rating:6*By PHX Nineteen Naughty Nine-1999¤AristaRecords Rating:9*By PHX Infos: As well as pioneering the maxi cassette single in America,TommyBoy had been working low-keys campaigns based on hitting street knowledge rather then relying on big budgets. For N.B.N`s"O.P.P"for example, they plastered New York with black and white stickers, simply printed "Down with O.P.P"..Quick to respond, bootleggers produced t-shirts and hats with the same slogan. As a consequence, the New Yorkers were asking themself what O.P.P meant even before the track broke. The single was realesed in 1991 and became an anthem and a massive hit record. One girl working at the Tommy boy Records rememberd: Treach just completly took off as a major, major star. He`s an intresting guy because he had enormous sex appeal for women and he was really rough. He`d always wear prison type outfit,a chain around his neck, and he was really hard looking so the guys respected him. His lyrical flow was also very influential and Kaygee was a mastermind at comeing up with athemic tracks-"O.P.P"and "Hip Hop Hooray" being the two biggest ones. Naughty By Nature`s style, another new direction for hip hop,had the versatility of Queen Latifah, mixing smooth R&B,pumping beats, chanted choruses and serious lyrics on"Uptown Anthem"and"Feel Me Flow" ,but showing a more poignant side with the Bob Marley hookline of"Everythings Gonna Be Alright", Treach`s lament for his own lost childhood. Favorite songs: -Everything`s gonna be alright. -Uptown Anthem. -O.P.P. -19Naughty3. -Hip Hop Hooray. -It`s on. -Clap Your Hands. -Craziest. -Feel Me Flow. -Live Or Die. -Radio. -Thugs And Hustlers. Infos: A more typical singing for TommyBoy was House Of Pain."Jump Around"(with it`s intro samle taken from Bob and Earl`s Harlem Shuffle) and the metal-rap of"Shamrocks And Shenanigans(Boom Shalock Lock Boom)" were full on testosterone records with immediate appeal.Irish-Americans from Los Angeles,Everlast,DannyBoy and Lithuanian DJ Lethal were closely associated with Cypress Hill`s DJ Muggs, their mentor and producer."Both of thoose groups broke down the radical barriers and the bi-coastal barriers" Cypress Hill were murky in terms of their ethnicity.House Of Pain,it was straight up Irish kids. With Everlast,i think a lot of white kids felt like they had found an artist that they could"call"their own. There`s alot of fiefdoms and tribes in rap.Every white kid from Queens who grew up listning to Run D.M.C,and loved Public Enemy, but never felt like they could be truly down,by virtue of the fact they were white.
